After a successful pop-up run at Partybus Bakeshop on Essex Street last summer, ice cream maker Ayanna Quint has officially opened Julia Jean’s Ice Cream Shop at 202 Clinton Street. Named after her mother, the new brick-and-mortar location offers locals a dedicated spot to enjoy handcrafted frozen treats.
Quint, who honed her skills as a baker during the pandemic, shifted her passion from desserts to ice cream. In an interview with Eater, she shared her vision of creating a neighborhood-friendly destination for after-school and after-dinner indulgences.
Julia Jean’s specializes in classic sundaes, scoops, ice cream sandwiches, and shakes, with sorbet earning high praise from early visitors for its refreshing flavor and quality. The shop operates Fridays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the remaining days devoted to crafting their ice cream behind the scenes.
Quint’s new storefront exemplifies the appeal of thoughtfully crafted, locally inspired frozen desserts, contributing to the growing scene of ice cream franchise opportunities that emphasize quality and community connection.
