Rollz Rolled Ice Cream Coming Soon to Vancouver

by Alice

VANCOUVER — A unique frozen treat is coming to Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood as Rollz, a fast-growing Canadian dessert chain specializing in Thai rolled ice cream, prepares to open its first location in the city.

Signs for the new shop have gone up at 2685 Main Street, a space that has been vacant for several years. Founded in Scarborough in 2017, Rollz has steadily expanded its presence, launching over a dozen locations across Ontario and Alberta, as well as outposts in Halifax and Surrey—the latter having opened in late 2024.

Unlike traditional ice cream, which is churned and frozen in bulk, rolled ice cream is handcrafted to order. A liquid base is poured onto a flat metal plate chilled to -20°C, mixed with flavorful ingredients, then spread thin and artfully rolled into spirals. “We pour our liquid base onto the cold surface, add mix-ins, then chop, mix, spread, and roll it into beautiful spirals,” explains the Rollz Vancouver website.

In addition to its namesake dessert, Rollz offers a variety of indulgent treats including milkshakes, faloodas, and cheesecake.

While an official opening date has not yet been announced, job postings for the new store remain active, suggesting preparations are well underway. As consumer demand for unique frozen desserts grows, Rollz’s expansion reflects the strength of ice cream franchise opportunities across Canada.
