KENNER, La. — Rivertown’s commercial revitalization just got sweeter with the grand opening of Flying Dolly’s, a handcrafted ice cream and dessert shop that officially opened its doors at 402 Williams Blvd. on June 5. The launch was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city and parish leaders, celebrating a new chapter in the district’s ongoing food and business renaissance.
Founded by Northshore natives Jeff and Corey Robertson alongside the Mutter family, Flying Dolly’s builds on the success of their original Mandeville venture, Just Chillin, rebranded and expanded across the Gulf South with locations now in Kenner, Jackson, and Mobile, and more on the horizon.
“We’re proud to be a sweet compliment to such a vibrant and growing food scene,” said Corey Robertson. “But more than that, we hope to be a spark — a catalyst — for even more small businesses to come here and thrive.”
A Flavorful Future
Flying Dolly’s offers a rotating selection of 16 in-store flavors pulled from a catalog of 65 house-made varieties, including local standouts like Honeycomb and playful pairings in their signature stuffed snowballs — a blend of classic New Orleans icy treats and premium artisanal ice cream. The shop also serves snowballs, cookies, and other desserts.
The shop joins a string of new food-focused businesses — Ground Pati, RiverShack Kenner, and Gendusa’s Italian Restaurant — revitalizing Rivertown’s historic corridor.
Local Roots, Local Investment
The roots of Flying Dolly’s go back to the 1960s at Archbishop Rummel High School, where Jeff Robertson and Mutter’s father first met. The families, longtime residents of St. Tammany Parish, also operate Pandora’s Snowballs on Carrollton Avenue and are deeply committed to keeping their business growth “in the Parish.”
“Keeping everything ‘in the Parish’ was important to us,” said Jeff Robertson. “We want to invest in the people, the talent, and the culture that makes this region special.”
A Collaborative Community Effort
Flying Dolly’s worked in partnership with the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) and the City of Kenner, as well as creative collaborators like Wrenworks Studio, Tin Roof Boutique, and Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts.
Looking ahead, the team is actively exploring corporate store locations in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes and is seeking franchise owner/operators to help grow the brand across the Gulf South.
With deep local roots, bold flavors, and a collaborative spirit, Flying Dolly’s is aiming to be more than just an ice cream shop — it’s a symbol of Rivertown’s bright, flavorful future.
