TV personality and former Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies has surprised fans with a refreshing homemade mango ice cream that features one unexpected ingredient—cottage cheese.
Known for her crafty DIY hacks, Sara recently shared a quick and easy summer treat via Instagram, and it’s gaining attention not just for its simplicity, but for its clever twist on traditional ice cream recipes.
In a step-by-step reel, Sara demonstrated how to whip up this fruity dessert using just a few ingredients—most notably frozen mango and cottage cheese. While cottage cheese is more commonly paired with savory dishes like jacket potatoes or crackers, Sara proved it can also serve as a surprisingly effective base for a creamy frozen dessert.
Inspired by Instagram recipes and advice from nutritionist The Mindful Cook, Sara gave it a try herself. “HONESTLY, it’s really good,” she told her followers. After blending the ingredients into a smooth mix, Sara gave it a taste test and revealed, “You would definitely have no idea it’s cottage cheese.”
Once blended, she simply transferred the mixture into a container and placed it in the freezer to set—no ice cream maker needed.
If you love sorbet or lighter frozen treats, Sara described the flavor and texture as “pretty gorgeous,” and noted how incredibly simple the recipe is to make using basic ingredients already in the fridge.
For those seeking a healthy and fruity alternative to store-bought ice cream, this mango-cottage cheese combo is a must-try. Plus, it’s packed with protein and perfect for summer snacking.
