LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Artisanal Italian gelato could soon have a new home in Northern Virginia. Pitango Gelato, known for its farm-fresh, preservative-free approach to gelato and sorbet, has announced plans to expand into Loudoun County.
Franchisees Sree Gurrapu and Naga Jaka are currently scouting locations in the area, joining a wave of regional growth that began with Pitango’s first franchised shop in Old Town Alexandria in 2023. The pair bring experience from launching innovative food concepts with Indian fusion and Mediterranean roots — a promising sign for the brand’s growing footprint.
What Makes Pitango Unique?
Authentic gelato and sorbet made with fresh, organic ingredients
Menu features Italian classics like Fior di Latte, Nocciola, and Crema
Sorbets crafted from real fruit—no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives
Milk sourced from Pitango’s own farm in Baltimore County, MD
Drinks and pastries also available for a complete café experience
“We’re excited to welcome Sree and Naga to the Pitango family,” said CEO Dinah Bengur. “Their strong industry background and alignment with our brand values will help bring Pitango’s vision to life in Loudoun County.”
Founded in 2007 by Noah Dan, who grew up in Italy, Pitango Gelato has become a regional staple with shops in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The Loudoun County shop will join existing locations in Reston Town Center and Alexandria, plus the flagship bakery café in Baltimore.
What’s Next?
The exact location and opening date have not been announced, but expect menu details and updates as the opening gets closer. With few true gelato shops currently in Loudoun — Gogo’s Italian Gelato in Leesburg and Fantasticks in Ashburn among them — Pitango’s arrival is likely to draw attention.
