After more than 40 years of serving locals and celebrities alike, Sprinkles Ice Cream in Palm Beach will close its doors permanently after May 26, 2025. The ice cream shop, a staple of the community since 1985, will not return to its current location following a necessary building repair that made its continued operation unfeasible.
Owner Anson Ainsworth expressed gratitude for the support Sprinkles has received over the years and shared hope for the future, hinting at plans to relocate, though no new site has been secured yet. Under Ainsworth and his wife Cortney Berry, who purchased the shop in 2023, the menu expanded to include sandwiches and soups in addition to its iconic ice cream.
Sprinkles is known for its 32 flavors of ice cream, sorbet, and sherbet, along with smoothies, sundaes, milkshakes, and more. It also provided a platform for local artists to showcase their crafts. Notably, the shop’s triple chocolate supreme flavor was once named “the very best” by People magazine in 2003.
Throughout its history, the shop has hosted several famous visitors, including Michael Jackson, who stopped by in 2003 for a scoop of ice cream. The building itself, a landmark, was sold to Flagler System Management Inc. for $11 million in April 2022.
Ainsworth and his team are committed to keeping the community informed about potential future developments for the shop’s return in a new location.
