Amongst the flurry of human activity preparing ice cream delights and savory snacks, a unique addition captured the attention of patrons young and old alike: Sprinkles the Robot.
Sporting multiple shelves and impeccable manners, Sprinkles seamlessly navigated the space, serving up delectable treats and extending warm welcomes simultaneously. “He will bring out your ice cream or your food that you order,” shared one staff member. “And he’ll tell you ‘My name is Sprinkles. Welcome to Evan’s Sweets and have a sweet day.'”
As Sprinkles glided amongst the tables, eliciting smiles and fascination, it became evident that his charm transcended age barriers. “The kids love him, but I believe the adults love him more,” remarked a delighted onlooker.
For the seamless integration of Sprinkles into Evan’s Sweets, minor adjustments were necessary. “We had to take out two tables that we were going to use so he would have plenty of room to get around and it was well worth it,” explained one of the proprietors. “But we’re adding four tables on the outside just when the weather gets a little bit warmer out here.”
The inspiration behind introducing a serving robot to Bluefield, Virginia, stemmed from an encounter at a pizza establishment in Minnesota. “I just thought he was super cute,” shared Ratliff, reflecting on the idea’s genesis. Procuring Sprinkles took months of planning and coordination, with the robot finally finding its place amidst the sweet offerings of Evan’s Sweets.
