As the summer season looms closer, ice cream enthusiasts in Kamloops can rejoice as local ice cream parlors officially kick off their 2024 operations.
The Ice Cream Social set the ball rolling at the onset of March, swiftly followed by Scoopz Ice Cream on March 23, and most recently, the Frozen Paddle made its debut on Tuesday.
Adrianne Erlandson, the proprietor of Scoopz, noted that the commencement of ice cream season has been robust, albeit contingent on climatic conditions.
“The initial days see a surge in footfall as everyone comes out to extend their greetings for the season,” Erlandson remarked. “Our patronage tends to ebb and flow in tandem with the weather. Sunny days witness queues stretching throughout the day, while overcast or cooler days bring a more subdued atmosphere.”
Erlandson highlighted Scoopz’s introduction of vegan ice cream options last year and expressed intentions to broaden their dairy-free assortment.
“The demand for a creamy dairy-free alternative was persistent among our clientele,” Erlandson explained. “We introduced non-dairy sorbets previously, but now, with a supplier offering an exceptional dairy-free product, we’ve managed to satisfy both our customers and ourselves.”
Scoopz Ice Cream operates from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and extends its hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, located on Lorne Street.
Meanwhile, The Ice Cream Social, situated on Tranquille Road, welcomes patrons from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
The Frozen Paddle, positioned on Victoria Street, is accessible from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. exclusively on weekends.
