This summer, Pennsylvania invites ice cream lovers to embark on “Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail,” a statewide tour highlighting 51 creameries that showcase the finest local ice cream and dairy products. Running through September 7, the initiative is a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the PA Preferred program, the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Tourism Office, and the Center for Dairy Excellence.
Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding emphasized the importance of supporting local farms: “Pennsylvania ice cream is the sweetest you’ll find anywhere. Visiting farms and tasting fresh-made ice cream helps keep our economy thriving.”
Participants who register on the Scooped website receive a digital passport to track their visits and earn points. Visiting six stops and earning 600 points rewards visitors with a commemorative metal tumbler, while visiting 10 stops and 1,000 points enters them into a drawing for a farm stay at Rocky Acre Farm Bed & Breakfast in Lancaster County.
The trail offers more than just ice cream; it provides a unique chance to connect with Pennsylvania’s dairy producers and enjoy a wide range of local flavors. Participating creameries include notable stops such as Baily’s Dairy of Pocopson Meadow Farm, Penn State Berkey Creamery, Fox Meadows Creamery, and Greco’s Italian Ices and Homemade Ice Cream, among many others across the state.
For ice cream enthusiasts and those exploring new franchise opportunities or the latest ice cream trends, the Scooped trail is a delicious way to experience Pennsylvania’s rich dairy heritage.
