RALEIGH, N.C. — Ice cream just got a nostalgic twist at Crabtree Valley Mall, where Creamed, a trendy new food truck, is serving up soft serve swirled with your favorite childhood cereals — all from the inside of a vintage French van.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Fitz and Denee Guerna, Creamed is a cereal-infused ice cream bar built into a pair of retro-styled food trucks. The first truck is parked indoors at Crabtree Mall, offering a unique twist on soft serve — vanilla, chocolate, or swirl — blended with a dozen popular cereals. Add-ons include candy toppings, milkshakes, and syrup drizzles, all crafted to your sweet tooth’s content.
Cereal + Ice Cream = Raleigh’s New Sweet Spot
Inspired by the couple’s travels in New York and Paris, Creamed draws from the cereal-ice cream craze popularized by spots like Milk & Cream Cereal Bar in NYC. After relocating from New York to North Carolina in 2015, the Guernas saw a gap in the Triangle’s dessert scene — and decided to scoop in with something fun and new.
“We travel a lot and saw this concept in Paris,” said Fitz Guerna. “There’s nothing else like it here in North Carolina.”
Creamed dubs itself “cereal-infused” — a fresh concept that blends soft serve with the crunch and flavor of well-loved cereals. Think Froot Loops, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles and more, all churned into creamy swirls.
A Sweet Family Side Hustle
When they’re not running a medical tourism company offering recovery homes for plastic surgery patients in Cali, Colombia, the Guernas are building what they hope becomes a fleet of food trucks across RDU.
One truck is permanently stationed inside Crabtree Valley Mall, while the second will hit the road, popping up at downtown buildings, office parks, and daycares throughout the Triangle.
“This is for my kids and it’s for the community,” said Guerna. “It’s something fresh. We’re looking forward to having many more all over RDU.”
With its colorful concept and international flair, Creamed is already turning heads — and scooping smiles — as one of Raleigh’s coolest new dessert spots.
