SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Ice cream lovers, mark your calendars. The annual Scoop San Diego Ice Cream Festival is returning to North Park on Sunday, June 22, offering a sweet start to summer.
Set at 30th Street and North Park Way, this year’s festival will bring together more than 35 of the region’s top ice cream and gelato vendors. Attendees can sample frozen treats from fan favorites including Handel’s San Diego, Insomnia Cookies and Ice Cream, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Stella Jean’s Ice Cream, Mootime Creamery, and many more.
Running from noon to 4 p.m., the festival is more than just a dessert celebration — it’s a community-driven event with a cause. Proceeds will benefit ProduceGood, a local nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste by collecting surplus fruits and vegetables from farms, markets, and private gardens, and redistributing them to those facing food insecurity.
Organizers say the goal of Scoop San Diego is to use the universal love of ice cream as a force for good. “We celebrate people’s shared love of ice cream as a catalyst for social connection and human compassion,” the festival’s mission states.
As interest continues to grow in both the dessert and business scenes, Scoop San Diego also highlights the expanding world of ice cream franchise opportunities, spotlighting the latest ice cream trends from both established and emerging vendors.
Whether you’re going for the flavors or the philanthropic mission, this festival promises a cool experience with a warm heart.
