Just in time for the warmer months, Tillamook is rolling out two latest ice cream flavors that blend innovation with nostalgia: Salty Caramel Pretzel and Apple Crisp. Known for its premium dairy products and cult-favorite ice cream sandwiches, the Oregon-based creamery is once again raising the bar in the frozen dessert aisle.
The limited edition releases promise bold flavors and high-quality ingredients that fans have come to expect from Tillamook. The Salty Caramel Pretzel variety pairs rich vanilla ice cream with ribbons of salted caramel and crunchy, chocolate-coated pretzel pieces—striking the coveted balance between sweet and salty.
Meanwhile, the Apple Crisp flavor channels the warmth of a homemade dessert. Made with real apple flavor, a touch of cinnamon, brown sugar, and bits of oatmeal streusel, the recipe draws inspiration from a family favorite. “To create the Apple Crisp flavor, we used a recipe from my mother as a base to help us translate apple crisp into ice cream,” said Hunter Clayton, Senior R&D Associate Scientist at Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA). “We all know the smell and unforgettable taste of a warm apple crisp, and what better way to tap into that nostalgia than a homemade recipe.”
Capturing the authentic flavor of apples in ice cream is no small feat, making this offering a notable entry in Tillamook’s summer lineup. Though both flavors are currently labeled as limited edition, past seasonal releases such as Orange & Cream and Campfire Peanut Butter Cup have earned permanent spots in the brand’s rotation due to popular demand.
The move aligns with a broader trend in the frozen dessert industry where legacy brands are expanding flavor offerings to compete with newer entrants and capitalize on consumer interest in artisanal-style products. These innovations also underscore the growing potential in ice cream franchise opportunities, as brands seek to expand their reach through retail partnerships, co-branded experiences, and curated scoop shop menus.
While it’s unclear how long Salty Caramel Pretzel and Apple Crisp will remain on shelves, demand is already heating up. Fans of Tillamook ice cream are stocking up, and if history is any indication, these flavors may become permanent fixtures in freezers across the country.
