Fall River is saying goodbye — for now — to one of its most eye-catching dessert spots. Ice ‘N’ Roll, known for its colorful rolled ice cream creations and wildly imaginative milkshakes, is closing its North Main Street location and moving to a new, larger space in Dartmouth.
From Side Hustle to Sensation
Started in 2021 by Kyaina Bethel, a local Diman Vocational graduate and former dental assistant, Ice ‘N’ Roll quickly gained a loyal following. What began as a side project quickly turned into a full-blown phenomenon, drawing fans from across the region — from Boston to Providence — all eager to try rolled ice cream served in pineapples or topped with candy and cookies.
Bethel, inspired by West Coast food trends and Thai-style street food, brought her own twist to Fall River’s dessert scene, creating a late-night hangout with American flair and Instagram-worthy flair.
What to Expect in Dartmouth
The new Ice ‘N’ Roll location will open in Dartmouth Towne Center on State Road, just steps from Crumbl Cookies and Barnes & Noble. With twice the seating of the Fall River shop — including outdoor space — and a full interior redesign underway, Bethel promises a “cool vibe” and “modern concept” to match the brand’s over-the-top personality.
All of Ice ‘N’ Roll’s fan-favorite treats will return, including creative milkshakes, seasonal rolled ice cream specials, mangonadas, and shaved ice treats. Bethel also has her sights set on a liquor license to introduce boozy shaved ice creations in the future.
Not Saying Goodbye Entirely
While the Fall River storefront is closing permanently due to building issues, including water damage from a leaky roof, Bethel isn’t cutting ties with her hometown. Ice ‘N’ Roll will still appear at local events — including Fourth of July celebrations — and is preparing to launch a mobile “Roll Bus” to serve private events.
She also hinted at a possible return to the city’s waterfront district if new commercial spaces become available.
When to Visit the New Shop
There’s no official opening date yet, but Ice ‘N’ Roll aims to open its new Dartmouth location by July. Once open, hours will run daily from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m., making it a perfect late-night treat destination.
In the meantime, fans can keep up with the latest updates on Ice ‘N’ Roll’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
As for the old Fall River location, it won’t stay vacant for long — Haitian restaurant Sr Marie next door is expanding into the space.
