Costco has once again tapped into the viral Dubai chocolate trend, unveiling a new dessert that has sparked both excitement and skepticism among customers. The latest addition to the warehouse chain’s frozen offerings is a Dubai chocolate ice cream bar made with milk, cream, pistachio, and a distinctive kataifi chocolate coating—crafted by the popular brand Afters Ice Cream.
The release follows Costco’s earlier success with pistachio cream jars introduced in March, which quickly gained popularity for their rich, nutty flavor. Now, the retailer is doubling down with a frozen twist, showcasing the decadent pistachio-and-chocolate combination that has captivated social media in recent months.
Some lucky attendees at this year’s Coachella music festival were among the first to try the bars. “Those are fire!!” exclaimed one festivalgoer, echoing the sentiments of eager fans across Instagram and TikTok. Comments like “Immediately yes,” and “Ooo those look tasty,” reflect the strong anticipation surrounding the new product.
However, not everyone is sold. Health-conscious consumers have voiced concerns about the bar’s nutritional content. One Instagram user noted bluntly, “22 grams of fat,” while another criticized the sugar content, joking, “Dam sugar level is over 9000 on that label.” Others pointed to the ingredient list, suggesting that the bars might not align with cleaner eating habits.
Price is also a sticking point for some shoppers. At $17.99 for a box of 10, the bars fall on the higher end of Costco’s dessert range. Yet supporters argue the cost reflects the premium ingredients and global influence behind the product.
As the Dubai chocolate trend shows no signs of slowing, and with more reviews expected in the coming weeks, it remains to be seen whether this polarizing treat becomes a new cult favorite—or just another flash in the pan.
