“Oakland Community Unites to Support Ice Cream Vendor After Robbery”

by Alice

Following a harrowing incident in which 50-year-old Felipe Ramos, an ice cream vendor, was attacked and robbed at gunpoint in Oakland last month, the local East Bay community has come together in a remarkable display of solidarity.

Video footage captured the distressing moment when Ramos was ambushed while pushing his ice cream cart across a crosswalk. Three assailants surrounded him, forcefully pushed him to the ground, and stole from him. While law enforcement continues to search for the perpetrators, the community has taken proactive steps to support Ramos in the aftermath of the ordeal.

On a recent Sunday, a heartwarming scene unfolded as individuals from the neighborhood lined up to patronize Ramos’s ice cream cart, ultimately resulting in a complete sell-out of his inventory. In a show of further generosity, other vendors joined the cause by donating their proceeds to Ramos.

Christian Fregoso, one of the organizers behind the event, emphasized the importance of standing by neighbors in times of need, stating, “We wanted to let the community know that he’s not alone. And we’re here to help him out. So, thankfully he sold out all of his ice cream. So, I’m really happy for him.”

The overwhelming support extended beyond Oakland, with individuals traveling from Los Angeles and Fresno to offer their assistance and solidarity to Ramos during this challenging period.
