Massachusetts Ice Cream Trail will be promotion of local dairy farms, ice cream parlours

Efforts are underway to boost local dairy farms and ice cream parlors in Massachusetts as summer approaches.

State and industry officials aim to establish a “Massachusetts Ice Cream Trail” to spotlight farms with ice cream sales, suppliers to stores, and parlors using local milk. Business owners fitting this criteria are invited to submit their information by Monday at 9 a.m.

According to a Request for Information released by the Massachusetts Dairy Promotion Board and the Department of Agricultural Resources, plans involve transforming the list of businesses into a digital and print campaign.

The objective, as stated by the agencies, is to raise awareness and enhance opportunities for Massachusetts ice cream products.

This initiative follows the successful launch of a similar “Wine and Cheese Trails” campaign in the state.

Several years ago, WCVB’s Chronicle dedicated an entire episode to exploring the world of ice cream in Massachusetts, featuring unique serving styles, uncommon flavors, and adult-oriented varieties.
