Florida’s favorite grocery chain just gave its fans a new reason to celebrate: Publix has transformed its wildly popular Chantilly Cake into a limited-edition ice cream — and shoppers are rushing to get a taste.
Known for its famous “Pub-Subs”, crispy fried chicken, and warm customer service, Publix is no stranger to fan favorites. But it’s the Berry Chantilly Cake — a light, fruit-filled dessert from the bakery section — that has built a cult following over the years. Now, in the heat of summer, Publix is delivering a cooler take on this beloved treat with its new Chantilly Cake Ice Cream, available in stores for a limited time.
“Our limited-edition Chantilly Cake Ice Cream was inspired by our Chantilly Cake, found in the bakery, which is a customer favorite,” said Lindsey Willis, media relations manager at Publix Super Markets. “You can find this flavor in most stores now through the summer.”
What’s in the Ice Cream?
If you’ve never had Publix’s original cake, here’s the breakdown: a vanilla sponge cake with almond flavoring, layered with mascarpone-based chantilly frosting, and loaded with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
The new ice cream version captures all those notes — and more:
White cake-flavored ice cream base
Berry swirls
Chunks of almond-flavored cake
Fans say it hits all the right nostalgic notes, calling it “absolutely delicious” and noting the fluffy cake texture and berry swirls are spot-on. One North Carolina shopper shared on Reddit, “It tastes just like birthday cake with berries — I bought two pints and I’m trying to savor them.”
A Growing Flavor Trend
This isn’t the first time the Chantilly Cake has inspired spinoffs. Whole Foods launched a Berry Chantilly Latte earlier this year and also sells a Berry Chantilly Almondmilk Frozen Dessert under its 365 brand. But fans are already arguing online over which chain makes the best version of the cake — and now, which makes the best ice cream.
A Publix fan in Alabama declared the ice cream “exactly like the original dessert” and said they hoped Publix would “make this flavor permanent.”
More Summer Flavors Available
Beyond Chantilly Cake, Publix is also embracing the season with several new and returning limited-time summer ice cream flavors, including:
Piña Colada
Peanut Butter Pretzel
These inventive varieties further showcase the grocery chain’s growing presence in the premium frozen dessert space — and its ability to turn beloved bakery treats into craveable ice cream experiences.
Where to Find It
Publix’s limited-edition Chantilly Cake Ice Cream is now available in most stores across its Southeast footprint — including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina — while supplies last.
So whether you’re a devoted fan of the original cake or simply on the hunt for your next summer indulgence, this pint is a must-try.
“It’s storming here but now I don’t even care, I’m getting some,” one enthusiastic fan wrote on social media.
