PROSPER, Texas – June 18, 2025 – Beloved Ohio-based brand Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is continuing its Texas expansion with the grand opening of its newest location in Prosper, set to open its doors on Thursday, June 26, at 201 West Frontier Parkway.
To celebrate the occasion, the first 100 guests beginning at 11 a.m. will receive Free Ice Cream for a Year*. The grand opening will also feature a prize spin wheel, giveaways, and family-friendly festivities throughout the day.
The Prosper Handel’s will be locally owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Mike and Angela Davis, longtime residents and community leaders. Mike, a former Microsoft software engineer and current Chief Technology Officer at NIRVC, also previously served on the Prosper Town Council. Angela, an educator and the Executive Director of the American Speech and Debate Association, is well-known in the local community for her involvement in youth development and education. The couple co-coaches the Prosper Speech and Debate Club, reflecting their shared passion for mentorship.
“We love Prosper and we love Handel’s,” said Mike Davis, co-owner of the new location. “We’re absolutely thrilled to bring this amazing ice cream experience to our hometown.”
The dream of opening a Handel’s in Prosper began with a spontaneous moment outside the McKinney location.
“We were sitting in the car eating Handel’s and wondering what was next for our family,” shared Angela Davis. “Mike looked at me and said, ‘I wonder what it would take to open one of these in Prosper.’ I had been waiting for him to ask that! We submitted our franchise application that same night.”
