In its filing on April 12, the North Aurora, Illinois-based retailer disclosed assets ranging from $10 million to $50 million, along with corresponding liabilities. Among its top 20 unsecured creditors are notable entities such as Penske Truck Co., EcoLab, and the Cook County Treasurer, with debts totaling approximately $4 million, as reported by Chicago NBC affiliate WMAQ.

While Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy embarks on the path of reorganization, the broader landscape of the ice cream industry remains fiercely competitive. Established giants like Dunkin Brands’ Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone Creamery, Haagen-Dazs, Marble Slab Creamery, and Ben & Jerry’s continue to dominate the market, alongside renowned burger chains such as Dairy Queen, Sonic, and Culver’s, which have also garnered popularity for their ice cream offerings.
