SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Land Park community is mourning the loss of Craig Rutledge, the cherished owner of Vic’s Ice Cream, a beloved Sacramento institution located on Riverside Boulevard. Rutledge’s passing was announced via a heartfelt social media post from the business.
Vic’s Ice Cream has held a special place in the hearts of locals since its establishment in 1947, serving as a cherished gathering spot for generations of families and friends.
“He was a wonderful man and a friend to so many,” expressed the shop in a poignant Facebook tribute. “His legacy will endure within the Land Park community. Craig will be deeply missed, yet his memory will remain vibrant.”
Customers, deeply affected by Rutledge’s warm demeanor and dedication to his craft, shared their sentiments. Debbie Sharp, a regular patron, recounted fond memories of interacting with Rutledge during her visits. “I come here as many days of the week as I can,” she reminisced to KCRA 3. “I would see him and he’d come over and talk to me. He was just super sweet.”
