The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced recalls for several food products due to the presence of undeclared allergens. Kowalski Simply Sides – Jack’s Potato Salad, manufactured by Home Style Foods, Inc., was found to contain undeclared egg. The recall pertains to 43 cases of 16 oz Deli Cup of Kowalski Simply Sides – Jack’s Potato Salad with UPC: 754721282701 and a sell-by date of 04/29/2024. These products were distributed in Michigan to 25 stores, including 21 Kroger locations, Diamond Dot Market, Holiday Market Royal Oak, Larry’s Foodland, and Tenuta’s Market. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the back label containing Nutrition Facts and Ingredients was incorrectly labeled as “Very Berry Strawberry” on a 16 oz round plastic deli cup, due to an error during the filling process.

Belgian Yummies’ recall involves Ice Cream Sandwiches and Gelato containing undeclared allergens such as wheat, soy, egg, coconut, peanuts, and FD&C Yellow #5. The Ice Cream Sandwiches, available in flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry, Salted Caramel, Key Lime, Peanut Butter, Sofra (Vanilla and Chocolate), and Ria (Vanilla), come in 4-ounce clear plastic or gold packages marked with an expiration date of 08/31/2024. The Gelato, available in Strawberry, Birthday Cake, and Horchata flavors, comes in 5-liter gray containers and 4.75-liter gray pans marked with an expiration date of 08/31/2024. These products were distributed in Florida through wholesale orders. The recall was initiated after it was discovered during an inspection that the packaging did not reveal the presence of these allergens due to the use of outdated labels.

While no illnesses related to the recalled products have been reported, individuals with allergies or sensitivities to the undeclared allergens are advised to refrain from consuming them. Customers who have purchased the affected products are urged to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In addition to these recalls, Oregon Spice Co. in Portland, Oregon, recalled Johnny’s Parmesan Garlic Seasoning 5oz for sesame, and Baron Spices, Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri, recalled Blues Hog Sweet & Savory Seasoning for soy and wheat, due to similar issues with undeclared allergens.
