GRAND HAVEN, MI — With its rotating menu of handcrafted frozen treats and more than 100 toppings, The Pump House in downtown Grand Haven has become a go-to destination for dessert lovers seeking a personalized, artisanal experience.
Located at 20 N Harbor Dr., The Pump House offers a self-serve bar featuring 12 rotating flavors of frozen yogurt, gelato, sorbet, and custard, alongside six twist combinations. From vegan chocolate fudge to mango sorbet, chocolate chip cookie dough, and cherry amaretto, there’s a flavor for every palate.
Customers can then top off their creations with an extensive array of toppings—ranging from classic sprinkles and crushed cookies to fresh fruit, nuts, and drizzles of hot fudge. Pricing is based on weight, typically starting around $6 and climbing to $15 depending on portion size.
Owners Jim and Karen Avery opened the Grand Haven location in 2014 as part of their growing local franchise. In addition to The Pump House’s four locations—including one inside Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids—the couple also runs The Toasted Pickle and The Lucky Bucket, two popular eateries in the area.
The shop captures a nostalgic, small-town charm, with seating crafted from 100-year-old Michigan barn wood and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. “Here, you let yourself go by allowing yourself to stay,” the Averys say, inviting customers to unwind and indulge.
To sweeten the deal, The Pump House offers “No Weigh Wednesday,” where patrons can fill their cups with as much yogurt and as many toppings as they like for a flat rate of $5.95.
For those interested in yogurt franchise opportunities, The Pump House’s community-driven model and unique customer experience highlight the appeal of the latest yogurt franchise trends in the artisanal dessert space.
The Grand Haven shop is open from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
