AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Totally 80s Ice Ice Cream Shoppe is serving up more than just ice cream—it’s offering a nostalgic trip back to the vibrant 1980s, complete with classic toys, arcade games, and candy treats from the era.
Owned by Mike Thorpe, the shop recently opened a new location at 1600 S. Raccoon Road, celebrated with a ribbon cutting attended by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Austintown Township trustees. The shop also operates a location in Salem at 657 E. State St.
“We want families to enjoy ice cream while immersing themselves in 80s culture,” said Mike Thorpe. His daughter, Taylor Thorpe, who manages the Austintown location, explained how the store serves as a unique conversation starter, connecting generations through shared memories of 80s TV shows, movies, and collectibles.
At Totally 80s Ice Cream Shoppe, kids and adults alike can play classic arcade games such as Super Pac-Man and Galaga—completely free of charge. Board games and nostalgic toys like Simon, Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots, and Waterfuls are available to borrow inside the store, encouraging guests to unplug from their devices and enjoy some old-fashioned fun.
Mike noted, “It’s nice to have an affordable evening out with great ice cream and games. We keep portions generous and prices reasonable so families can have fun and still tip our hardworking staff.”
The shop also features a party van for special events, bringing the retro ice cream experience to the community.
With its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to quality treats, Totally 80s Ice Cream Shoppe is quickly becoming a standout in the local ice cream franchise scene, combining the latest ice cream trends with a beloved retro twist.
