Tyler Malek Launches Ice Cream Cookbook with LA Pop-Up Events

Tyler Malek, co-founder and head chef of artisanal ice cream brand Salt & Straw, is celebrating the release of his debut cookbook, America’s Most Iconic Ice Creams, with special events in Los Angeles from June 16 to 19.

Known for his creative and boundary-pushing approach to ice cream, Malek has crafted hundreds of unique flavors and collaborated with celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as well as culinary brands such as NYC’s PopUp Bagels and L.A.’s Compartes Chocolate.

His new cookbook offers a fresh take on classic American ice cream traditions, blending nostalgia with innovative techniques to honor the cultural roots behind these beloved flavors.

To mark the launch, Malek will appear at a book talk on June 17 at 7 p.m. at Book Soup in West Hollywood, joined by Hedley & Bennett founder Ellen Marie Bennett for a lively conversation.

From June 19 to 22, fans can also savor a limited-edition Matcha Ice Cream Sandwich at Ggiata Delicatessen on Melrose Avenue. This exclusive treat features Salt & Straw’s matcha ice cream from the cookbook, paired with Ggiata’s signature chocolate chip cookies and will be available while supplies last.
